India-Canada dispute 2023: Justin Trudeau wishes Navratri amid diplomatic tension with India, Situation Easing Now

India-Canada dispute: Diplomatic tension between India and Canada is now beginning to subside. Canadian PM Justin Trudeau greeted the Hindu community on the occasion of Navratri on Sunday. An official press statement issued by the Canadian PM said that members of the Hindu community in Canada and around the world will gather to celebrate Navratri. Navratri is one of the most celebrated festivals in Hinduism and in India as well.

Diplomatic tension between India and Canada is now beginning to subside.

Why is there tension between the two countries?

Tensions between the two countries rose after Trudeau publicly said last month that Indian agents were involved in the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, who was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in a Vancouver suburb on June 18. India described this allegation as absurd and rejected both. The countries expelled one diplomat each. India has also suspended new visas for Canadians.

Trudeau said at his conference that he did not want to escalate the controversy with India. “We are taking this issue seriously, however, we will continue to engage responsibly with the Indian government to get the best possible solution,” he said.  Trudeau was extensively trolled for raising the issue of India with several countries recently after discussing India’s relations with Jordan and the President of the UAE.

Let us tell you that the Prime Minister of Canada had claimed that Indian agents were behind the murder of pro-Khalistan terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. However, India completely rejected these allegations and called them politically motivated. At the same time, Justin Trudeau softened his tone and expressed his commitment to establishing close relations with India.

India- Canada Dispute: The festival reminds us of the victory of good over evil

An official press statement issued by the Canadian Prime Minister said that over the next nine nights and 10 days, members of the Hindu community in Canada and around the world will gather to celebrate Navratri. Navratri also provides an opportunity for all Canadians to learn more about the rich history and culture of Hindu communities and recognize their invaluable contributions to the social, cultural, and economic fabric of Canada.

“Navaratri celebration reminds us that diversity is one of Canada’s greatest strengths and it will continue in the future,” the statement said. On behalf of my family and the Government of Canada, I extend best wishes to all those celebrating Navratri this year.
