Yuvraj On Dhoni: Yuvraj Singh made a big revelation

In the show, Yuvraj Singh said that both he and MS Dhoni used to play for Team India, but they were never good friends. He said that even though they were together in the team, they could never become good friends off the field due to their different lifestyles.

Yuvraj said, ‘I and Mahi are not best friends, we were friends only because of cricket. We have played together. Mahi’s lifestyle was completely different from mine and hence we could never become best friends. When Mahi and I used to go on the field, both of us used to give more than 100 percent. At that time he was the captain of the team and I was the vice-captain. I was four years my junior when I joined the team. When you are captain and vice-captain, there are differences in your decisions.

He further said, ‘Sometimes I did not like whatever decision he took. Sometimes they did not like the decisions I took. This happens in every team. When I was in the last phase of my career, I asked him for advice. He was the same person who told me that the selection committee was not thinking about you at the moment and this was just before the 2019 World Cup.

Yuvraj On Dhoni: It is not necessary that teammates are your good friends

Yuvraj Singh said in the show that it is not necessary that the team players are always your best friends. He said, ‘It is not necessary that your team members are your good friends outside the field. Everyone has different lifestyles. Some people hang out with certain people. To go on the field, it is not necessary that you be good friends with every player of the team. Talking about any team, all 11 players are not together. When you are in the field, you keep your ego out and contribute to the field.

Yuvraj on Dhoni Injury

He further said, ‘Once it happened that Dhoni was injured and I was running as a runner in his place. I remember once he was playing in the 90s and I was trying to give him strikes so that he could complete his century. When I was playing unbeaten on 48 runs against the Netherlands in the World Cup match, he stopped two balls to complete my half-century.

Yuvraj On Dhoni: Dhoni had full faith in me till the 2011 World Cup

Yuvi said, “Till the 2011 World Cup, Dhoni had full faith in me and used to tell me that you are my main player. Then after returning after the illness, the game had changed a lot and a lot had happened in the team. That’s why as far as the 2015 World Cup is concerned, you can’t talk about anything, so it was a matter of taking the decision yourself. I understood that as a captain sometimes you are not able to answer everything because ultimately you have to focus on the performance of your team.

Yuvraj Career Summary

Yuvraj scored 1900 runs for Team India in 40 Test matches at an average of 33.92, which included three centuries and 11 half-centuries. At the time of retirement, Yuvraj had said, ‘I was talking to my mother and wife about retirement for 2 years. Father said, what would Kapil Dev have thought when he was not selected for the World Cup, how happy he must have been when he won the World Cup?
